The American Chemical Society
National Meeting 2008

The 235th ACS National Meeting took place in New Orleans from April 6th – April 10th and attracted more than 10.000 participants from all over the world. The ACS - American Chemical Society – is the world largest scientific organization. In the Division of Agricultural & Food Chemistry the conference “Mycotoxin Prevention and Control in Agriculture” was organized by Mary Trucksess (FDA), David Kendra and Michael Appell (both USDA).

Following topics were covered in during the 2 and half days event: Industrial practice and management, Omics Technologies, Method analysis, Analytical Approaches and Toxicity and Decontamination.

BIOMIN and Romer Labs were represented by Gerd Schatzmayr, Michael Prinster and John Richards. John Richards (Consultant, Romer Labs) gave an interesting overview about an integrated quality assurance program for mycotoxin avoidance & management that has been developed for feed & food manufactures. Gerd Schatzmayr (R&D Director BIOMIN) talked about various proprietary microorganisms which have the capability to detoxify non-adsorbable mycotoxins. This conference was a very good opportunity to discuss research results with experts and to discuss and exchange new ideas for future research programs.
