The 30th Mycotoxin Workshop was held in Utrecht from 28th to 30th of April in the Conference Centre called Woudschoten outside the city. Prof. Fink-Gremmels from the Veterinary Faculty of the University Utrecht had the honour to organise this workshop for he second time already after she had arranged the 10th Mycotoxin Workshop in Kulmbach with 42 participants some 20 years ago. Since then this German Mycotoxin Workshop has become an international event with more than 250 participants from about 15 countries all over the world.
The following topics were covered at this conference: Regulatory affairs; Fungal Identification and metabolism; Occurrence and stability of mycotoxins; Advances in mycotoxin analysis; Effects on farm animals, Mechanism of action and environmental aspects.
BIOMIN Reseach contributed 4 posters to this workshop which were presented by Karin Grießler, Michalea Thamhesl, Elisabeth Apfelthaler and Dieter Moll. Furthermore, participants had the chance to learn more about BIOMIN Research and the newly launched Website www.mycotoxins.info at the BIOMIN booth.
Apart from science there was a social program which was very attractive, too. On the first evening of this workshop Prof. Fink-Gremmels hosted a nice dinner in the conference hotel in Woudschoten and afterwards the participants had the opportunity to show their dancing talents. It was also a nice coincidence that on April 30th, Dutch people celebrate their Queen’s birthday, which gave the attendees the opportunity to enjoy the nationwide party of the Queen’s night.
All in all it was a very nice event where mycotoxin researchers had the chance to meet their colleagues, to present their new findings and also to discuss new ideas and projects. Next year ‘s Mycotoxin Workshop will be hosted by Prof. Humpf from the University of Münster. |
