International Poultry Scientific Forum in Atlanta

Atlanta (GA) is not only the origin of the Coca-Cola imperium and the scenery to “gone with the wind”, but also home of one of the most important events in the science and business of poultry production in the world. The IPSF and IPE took place from 26th to 30th of January this year and provided an excellent insight into current topics concerning management, environmental issues, diseases and productivity.

Scientists and exhibitors came together from all over the world, mainly from the Americas, fewer from Europe, Africa and Asia. The IPSF saw fewer participants than in the past years, the quality of the contributions has risen, though. The most important topics could be identified as mycotoxins, coccidiosis, necrotic enteritis and gangrenous dermatitis, which were well covered by contributions out of the BRAIN programme.

The Scientific Forum was followed by the world´s largest poultry exhibition (IPE) with the biggest players in broiler, turkey and egg production and related businesses. The exhibitors occupied two halls of the enormous Georgia World Congress Centre. At the BIOMIN booth there was the chance to have a sip of coffee and a chat with one of the sales and marketing managers. All in all, two events which should not be missed in 2010!
