From 6 – 9 September 2009, the 40th ISEO took place in Savigliano, a small city 60 km from Turin, Italy. The presentations were held in the beautiful buildings of the university whereas the opening concert as well as the opening ceremony and plenary lecture took place at the town theatre “Milanollo” which was recently renovated. About 160 scientists from essential oil research as well as representatives from industry listened to 25 oral presentations and had a look on 110 posters, most of them covering essential oil analytic and characterization.

BIOMIN, as the only representative from animal feed industry, contributed two poster presentations about antibacterial activity of essential oils and main compounds. Intensive discussion was caused by a presentation about fragrance contact allergy of essential oil main components.

Besides the scientific program, a gala dinner was organized in the amazing town hall (Piazza del Popolo) where traditional food was served and participants got to know each other in a comfortable atmosphere.

The next ISEO will take place in Wroclav, Poland from 5 – 8 September 2010.
