Substantial interest for BIOMIN at the „Lange Nacht der Forschung“ (Long night of research)
|
On November 7th 2009 the “Lange Nacht der Forschung” (www.langenachtderforschung.at) took place in 7 regions of Austria. Universities, research institutes as well as research-focused companies opened collectively their gates for the general public and the BIOMIN Research Center in Tulln was also part of this initiative.
All in all there were more than 360,000 participants and in Tulln alone more than 2,500 people were interested in learning more about the research activities of the IFA-Tulln (Department of Agrobiotechnology, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences), the University of Applied Sciences as well as the Technologiezentrum Tulln (Technology Center Tulln) and a considerable number of participants also visited the BIOMIN station. Our researchers, especially DI Sabine Henikl and Dr. Dieter Moll, were able to give the interested visitors a basic understanding of BIOMIN’s probiotic- and mycotoxin-related research. Our visitors also had the opportunity to actively participate in the isolation of probiotic strains of a chicken gut and to view various microorganisms under the microscope.
Overall and also for BIOMIN this event was a huge success and the research team of BIOMIN (Doris Hartinger, Michaela Thamhesl, Viviana Klose, Florian Strohmayer, Sabine Henikl, Dieter Moll and Gerd Schatzmayr) is already looking forward to a sequel in the next years.
