The World Immune Regulation Meeting-IV (WIRM) organized by the SIAF took place in Davos, Switzerland from March 29th to April 1st 2010. The participants of this conference came mainly from European countries but also from USA, Japan, China, Russia, Brazil and a few from Egypt.
A broad spectrum of topics was covered: Innate Immune Response, Immune Tolerance, Dendritic cells, Allergy and Asthma, Cytokines, Inflammation and Immunity, Autoimmunity, Immune Pathology, Novel vaccines and drugs, Cellular and molecular interactions in immune regulation, Immunity and cancer
Amongst others, top-class scientists who publish in Nature and Science gave oral talks and high quality scientific journals such as Nature Immunology and Nature Reviews Immunology sponsored the congress.
Apart from the scientific agenda a commercial exhibition was organized which showcased laboratory equipment and reagents for immunological research. Furthermore, there was a special lecture given by Boris Grundl about "The magic of change" who is a leadership coach and since an accident 90% paralyzed.
Anja Ganner (Research Project Leader) from the BIOMIN Research Center had a poster presentation about “Cytokine modulation of plant materials investigated in a monocyte-macrophage cell line”. Poster presentations were accompanied by nice food and drinks.
Davos is a congress city and winter sports paradise in one. Between the morning and the afternoon session there was a “winter sports break” where participants had the chance to enjoy some nice Swiss ski slopes! A social event with dinner and dance concluded the final day of the conference. |
